Competitive.

Who we run into, where they're strong, and the wedge that wins — plus the categories we deliberately don't play in.

The wedge, every time

We rarely win on features in the abstract — we win on a specific gap in the incumbent. The gap is almost always one of: international fulfillment (the dominant one), HRIS-driven automation, no markup on gifts, or one platform instead of three tools. Find which gap matters to this buyer in discovery, then anchor there.

Gifting & rewards platforms

CompetitorWhere they're strongOur wedge
SnappyPolished consumer gifting UX; well known.Snappy takes a ~15% markup on gifts; we don't mark up the gift. Plus global fulfillment + HRIS automation.
Sendoso / ReachdeskSales/marketing direct-mail & gifting, US-centric.Built for SDR sends, not HR programs or global employee fulfillment. We do both rewards and swag, internationally.
GoodySimple, cheap monthly fee.Thinner on automation, warehousing, and international; ceiling on program complexity.

Swag & merch vendors

CompetitorWhere they're strongOur wedge
SwagUpBranded kits at volume. We pair swag with a rewards platform + automation + global warehousing; on real bulk quotes we've beaten SwagUp on landed kit cost.
Swag.com / MerchLoop / VistaprintSelf-serve merch ordering.Transactional print shops — no recognition program, no automation, no international fulfillment layer.
StadiumSwag + some gifting.Compete on global warehousing, customs handling, and the automation/HRIS layer.

Not our game — refer out

Some tools look adjacent but solve a different problem. Naming it builds trust and saves the cycle:

  • Nectar / Bonusly / AwardCo — peer-to-peer recognition, points, and social feeds. If the buyer wants a public kudos wall, that's not us; refer out. We're the rewards & fulfillment layer, not the recognition feed.
  • Pure US-only, sub-100 employee gifting — the economics don't fit (see disqualifiers).
When a buyer wants both a recognition feed and global rewards, position PerkUp as the fulfillment engine alongside their recognition tool — not a rip-and-replace.
